This constant running of your AC unit can cause extreme wear and tear on your wallet. We all know that the rising cost of electricity can severely infringe on the our back account.

  • If you have ceiling fans in your home then use them in combination with your AC unit. Ceiling fans will assist in circulating the air in your home which means you wont’ have to run your system as low as your normally would.
  • The use of drapes, curtains or blinds can assist in blocking out a large portion of the hot sun. Be sure to block out the sun in the rooms that you are not using. In addition, close doors of rooms that aren’t currently being used.
  • Buy an AC unit that is adequate enough for the size of your home. If you buy a smaller unit it will have to run twice as hard and your home may never totally get cooled down to the temperature you want.
  • Do not block air vents with furniture. This will not allow for proper air flow in your home and thus your home will not feel cool.
  • Have an annual checkup on your AC to make sure there are no problems that need to be fixed before they become a major repair.
